Now, as we do each week, we’ve explored everything we can find happening in the Austin tech and startup scenes to provide you with a curated list of events to check out each day. Here’s this week’s Inno Approved events.
Monday, Dec. 12
If you feel there’s plenty of room for local government to innovate, then Open Austin’s open gov and civic tech meet up is worth checking out. And now might be the right time. The group is meeting at 7 p.m. at the Terrazas Branch Library on Cesar Chavez to recap their progress this year.
Tuesday, Dec. 13
At Austin Inno, we like to think we know a thing about media and technology. But we also know there’s always room for growth and new ideas. And that’s what MediaTech Live’s event is all about — the convergence of media with technology, and how funding plays a role. You’ll hear from SaulPaul, a musician and music video producer, and Jim Brown, founder and general partner at Arena Growth Partners.
Also, Austin Web Bash is back. The big holiday party gets more than a dozen existing tech meet up groups together for drinks, networking and fun. This year, event proceeds go to ChickTech, a nonprofit that helps increase the number of women and girls going careers in technology.
Wednesday, Dec. 14
Celebrate the graduation of Tech Ranch’s Venture Forth #35 cohort and here pitches from the startups. It starts at 6 p.m. with some networking, then, after the pitches, they plan to celebrate with a champagne toast.
Thursday, Dec. 15
You’re probably not surprised to hear it’s the season for giving. But you may be surprised by some of the ways tech enables organizations to get funding and do their best work. The Austin Forum is collecting great ideas to help those less fortunate and will lead a discussion on giving back at Galvanize at 6:15 p.m. So, if you have a great idea, now is the time to share it.
Friday, Dec. 16
What are the coders emerging from The Iron Yard’s latest cohort capable of? The coding school is hosting a graduation celebration and demo day for its front end engineering students. Grab a drink and a snack, then sit back and see what the new coders have developed.
